MastOR Secures Seed Funding from Sofinnova Partners to Develop its Laparoscopy Assistance Platform
MastOR is a medical device company that develops a surgical robot for laparoscopic assistance. The surgical robotics company, an early-stage, was founded by Professor Brice Gayet and Pierre Campredon in 2019. It is privately held portfolio company of Sofinnova Partners, financed through the MD Start III Fund. The core technology is derived from joint research between the Institute of Intelligent Systems and Robotics (Isir)* at Sorbonne University and Professor Brice Gayet, a world-renowned surgeon and pioneer in minimally invasive surgery.
MastOr obtained a seed investment from the Sofinnova Partners MD Start III fund, as well as non-dilutive financing through the i-Nov Innovation Award from BPI France, the French national public investment bank. The seed and grant funding will be used for prototype development and pre-clinical validation. It will advance MastOR's laparoscopy assistant platform, which broadens access to minimally invasive techniques for surgeons and optimizes resources utilization in the operating room.
